I appreciate its unlikely but the possibility could easily be removed?
Just another though to throw in the mix, how about if an 8 man team was chosen from say:
Top 3 from GP series
BFTA Champs Winner
Top 3 Euros
A fairer representation perhaps?
Playing devils advocate
This year, out of the people that wanted to go... that would give.
Steve Privett (who's going and shooting springer).. cos we can't have Jack. Trouble is, those others behind him are either Welsh, or dont want to go. And the lower you go, we go from 1-2-4-8 people... so how do we decide that in a tie? So that's not working really.
Ok so we have 3. Lets move on.
BFTA Champs. First person that wanted to go on that list not already in a team was me. Ok so skip me because I'm shooting springer, Mark Stenton.
So 4 now.
Lets say next 4 from euros then.
So your team would be (rearranged for ease of comparison)
As opposed to the one thats going
It would appear that despite basing it off GP only, or Euros only, or a combination of those and a couple of other competitions, we indeed end up with 75% of the team being the same. Now it might be a peculiar twist of fate, or it might be the big reason that there are several names in the top 20 that are either Welsh, or not committed to going at this time.
Do bear in mind, that out of those 8, there's only 1-2 shooters who wouldn't have placed inside the overall top 15 of the GP series.
It would be a shame if someone missed out, it always is. That's not really disputed. What is disputed is the method that is impartial and fair that sees that process interfered with. How do we assess the impact of illness or injury? Should that person not shoot the event entirely and we just automatically give them a place? Or should we say that a cold is worth 2 targets and food poisoning 5? Should we have a doctor assess them, and their long term viability to make sure they're ready for next year?
Or do we elect someone, whose judgement can be questioned in all manner of ways, because someone doesn't like the result of their wildcard choice? I know I wouldn't stand for that position, i've said it. But perhaps there is someone out there who would. The AGM beckons...
