My concern was for deformation of the action block, theory being that if a bit of pressure in the cylinder can move the poi whats to stop it all flapping around and weakening the action. I am still learning lots so please don't think I am disagreeing, just trying to understand the whole aspect of free floating or clamped like a good un.
I think as Col says its strong enough on its own , I never bothered with supporting mine , in fact most people I know run a tenner between the cylinder and the stock to make sure its not touching , gotta admit the first time I clouted a tree with my barrel I thought the world had ended , never made any difference , strongly recommend against that though
