That is why I use video editing software. To trim the excess.
There are plenty free tools for that task.
Personally,I find everything under a minute as limiting.
If you want to do some pellet checking and check pellet flight, you need to press record, aim and squeeze the trigger under 3 seconds. Hard to do it without shaking the rifle.
On the fun part, if you want to film some targets getting destroyed and you put the camera close to the target, there is no way you get back behind the rifle under 3 seconds.
And to limit recording to just a few seconds is nonsense, properly configured camera with class 10 card should be able to film in high speed without limitation with as little as 50-100 MB of internal flash memory.
