Default Only of use to older contact lens wearers...

As I am heading rapidly towards the big fifty, I have started to need reading glasses. This is due to long-sightedness. However, I also wear contact lenses to correct the short sightedness I have had since about the age of twelve.

My optician has started to decrease the power of my left contact lens. My right lens is still full power, and being right eye dominant I have no problem with distance vision at all. The low-power left lens allows me to read all but the smallest writing with my left eye. It sounds a bit wacky, but it works and it allows me to do without reading glasses 99% of the time.

If you wear contacts, talk to your optician about monovision. It works really well, unlike varifocal contacts which are a complete waste of time.
