On my Night force NXS the lock ring was not glued but the front lens group carrier was, it need a little warming to soften and then it turned no problem with the aid of a very good fitting tool I made. I can adjust it now without heat but it is still a good firm fit.
You will want to bring it out until there is no px error rather than just a clear image to give the precision required for BR.
It is good with the close focus adaptor but would like to sort it without if poss as I feel it must degrade the quality of the picture using a slip on adaptor. Haven't really tried to remove front ring yet! Thought I would ask the question first!
What did you use to warm, hot air gun/ hairdryer rather that propane torch etc I assume?
