If you seal a gun up well enough and deny the market access to spare parts, then you ensure a continuum of service work for the factory, and any authorised repair shops. The investment cost in AT may well then be not only justified but desirable.

If all you wanted was to prove the rifle had been accessed in an unauthorised manner (to protect your position) then tamper-evident seals at far less cost would be the choice.
