Decided yesterday to do the 330 mile round trip to Bolton indoor range, got to say it was more informative than I had hoped for.
The range was everything I required, wind free, quiet from 12.00 I was there on my own, good shooting position, a lift to get your gear up to the range, its on the 3rd floor and Mick who runs the facility..... spot on guy.
The results of the day changed what I believed was happening with the rifles (I had three with me) and pellets(a selection of makes, sizes and weights). Hope this translates itself into more consistent results but certainly it went a long way into explaining those strange 'Fliers' that the mystery wind had carried off the kill area.
However the test is when I translate the results into action and shoot in another comp, it may well be that I am only hitting with the fliers and I am just a crap but lucky shot.
Make the effort, its worth it.
