I would think that to have any credibility as an organised shooting sport the GP series has to be a stand alone competition, and should end as scheduled on 24th August. This is when we announced to all competitors, sponsors and any shooting media,if interested, that the event would be.
This year it means there will be 6 GP's,if I remember correctly we've been here before back in 2001, when foot and mouth closed off large areas and complete regions. We scored 4 from 6.
It's unfortunate that a GP has been cancelled, it's a rare occurrence, a contingency plan for the future is needed, even if that is only to reduce the number of events and alter the 'best of' ratio' accordingly.
On the idea of showdown weekend; presumably the Open shooters would be expected to compete on Saturday and then hang around till Sunday evening if we wish to be entered for the draw and collect trophies?
