There are always negatives Chris, targets with intermitent faults may work fine when checked later but it doesn't mean they still weren't faulty, that's why Sparky & myself are still discussing the best compromise.
We had some good suggestions from the FORT & Buxted guys on Sat/Sun and its just trying to find the right balance between allowing shooters to call targets, reducing the silly calls, ensuring good well placed targets are used and making sure any judgement on a target is fair & consistent.
Intermitent faults can be solved the vast majority of the time by applying good target maintenance procedures prior to a shoot. I dare say most of the venues used the course setters prior to having a major shoot will probably drag all their targets in for some TLC.
