Old tasco's were made in Japan (iirc) and their optics were superb for the silly money they were. Even mid budget scopes these days often don't come close.

I do wish I never sold my Kassnar 3-9x40 AO with etched ret. I have no idea how it would stand up to scrutiny these days, but now I know what to do with all the knobs and dials i'd like to do a retro rig. One thing I do remember is it was way better than my Shrike 4x40.

I seem to remember in those days 40mm's started around 30-35 and went up in 5 increments by brand and class and feature. Top of the tree was the 3-9x56 Optima Moonlighters... but 80% of what we sold (or what people wanted) was the tasco range which had really good optics and were only a few over their next rivals.
