As someone who shot a PW (almost) of 34 yesterday at Springfield and then to go to a PB of 52 today (.22) in conditions that weren't very different, I'd have to say that it was the course-setting that made the biggest difference. I found a fair number targets were on my PBR and there weren't too many ranging traps.
But perhaps there is a lesson here. Even though the course might have been a bit easier than some, there was still a clear winner, even though a lot of people were in contention. So maybe not all courses have to be devilishly difficult in order to provide a good competition.
