Accuracy isn't the issue, its maintaining it and that's what can cause issues.

The barrel is plated for corrosion protection, better and more expensive than blueing.
thats my point, if as assumed it gradually wears off the internal surface surely thats the worst of both worlds, you have a barrel that is changing for the period during which it is wearing off and so accuracy is effected, then when its worn off the internal surfaces of the barrel are no longer corrosion protected - seems an odd approach

At least the outside should stay nice and shiney
