The Midlanders do it!: MFTA win the Regionals
A tough testing course, with strong or variable winds, had everyone concentrating from Lane 1. Those who survived the early breeze which took 1-2 kills at 50 yds+ sometimes often pitied those that shot later in a lighter wind that had a devilish unpredictability.
Andy Gillott set the pace with an early 37 ex 40. John Costello and James Osbourne followed later, as did a few others, but no-one broke that barrier. But it wasn't a day for personal scores, it was all about the team event... and that's where those 37's really paid off, with MFTA taking the title with 362, or 36.2 average per team member. Still NEFTA weren't too far behind with 348, but 14 points is a hell of a gap to make up considering the top score of the day. SEFTA in 3rd were only a few targets behind that as well.
One things for certain though, no matter how close other regions come to MFTA, overtaking them is going to be another matter altogether.
I suspect there will be several shooters keen to steal the MFTA Grand Prix title when it's hosted at Harriers on the 19th April
