When looking at optics for FT, for me the main priority is for a scope to be able to tell 50 & 55 apart, next for it to do it consistently, and then it's down to useability. So in that respect that's what I'd be looking at before I bought. Then you have the eternal option of going 2nd hand or new.
With regards to guns, I think each one has had it's woes, but a well behaving gun will perform to the same degree as any other. With that aside it comes down to reliability, fit and backup for me.
