Hi Gavin, just to clarify, whatever way you look at my shooting, I'm not very good. My scores in .22 HFT are lower than my scores in .177 (just like you) but against the field I'm possibly better in .22 than I am in .177, not least because there's more folk in .177.
Yes, everyone acknowledges that to get a high score in .22 is more difficult than in .177. The question is, how difficult, and would a handicap level the playing field, and if so, what would be an appropriate handicap.
In the club league at Maldon, players do receive a handicap according to ability - like golf - and I have also been allowed a handicap when shooting .22, because there's few if any of us shooting .22 on a club night.
