I think there's a misapprehension that FT and HFT are supposed hunting simulations. They are both 'field' target sports, as opposed to an indoor target sport, and have a similar amount of reflection on hunting as indoor paper punching does. The 'hunter' element is derived from the type of gear used for the discipline, as opposed to FT where it was felt the kit wasn't. Neither are a test of hunting skills, and while they may share common elements with hunting (as does paper punching), the main function of them is to test the ability of a shooter to hit a target in the field.
