Coincidentally, I recently went through the process of weighing a substantial number of Exacts (out of unmanageable curiotity, as well as for much the same reasons as you mentioned... it beats watching The Voice or Strictly Come Dancing), and threw the extremes (none of which were under 8.23 or over 8.54) into a separate tin and sat down to do some grouping with that.
