Our ground is laid out in a five acre field. The further you get from the club hut the more the exposure and generally the windier it gets. So we keep most of the longer targets in the first half, and I've just laid out the last five lanes to a revised format. On a still day - and we never get still days! - the last ten targets would be cleared by many, apart from a 35 yard stander. The last ten targets add up to a little over 300 yards which sounds easy but there are two 25mm kills and one is a kneeler, and one half inch kill at about 19 yards. This part of the course now focuses on technique rather than rangefinding.
