Hi Peter do exactly as Rob says but I would add have your eyes closed when you raise the rifle and when you have the rifle positioned in your shoulder open your eyes.

You should be looking exactly down the middle of the scope and not be seeing black anywhere through the ocular lens especially at the bottom or top. If you do this on the highest mag of your scope this will help you more accurately to determine the butt hook height and the position of your cheek piece if it is adjustable.
