If we go back to the original post, I believe that the two disciplines should be left as they are now, as they both work, but they give us a choice or option of how we choose to shoot.
The reality is that regional and club shoots bend the rules occasionally to make it more interesting and a challenging, but the basic national rules for the two sports give us a set of guidelines to work from.
Also, if it works and who gives a monkeys how they are run. If people that are dedicated to the sport put the amount of time in that they obviously do for the benefit of others, then it keep our sports alive.
Choose your sport (or shoot both) and enjoy them. But look after each other too, as we all shoot under the same laws, which could change, and we are all always under threat.
