Dichloromethane is as you say pretty bad stuff.

It's also used as a viscous liquid glue for PVC items such as some plumbing goods, so for a small area you might find a bit of plastic pipe glue (of the right type) would do the trick.

We used to use it at a firm I worked for, to glue PVC corrugated sheets together (don't ask why) and the men doing the work had to use proper heavy latex rubber gloves as it dissolved normal industrial gloves in minutes.
