Some people find 50 targets too many.
As Berty pointed out 50 is better than 40 for differentiating the field. Evidence to support this is offered by the results of the BFTA Champs and Masters that often require multiple shoot-offs to decide placing. Of course 50 doesn't guarantee no shoot-off but 25% more targets increases the potential to miss. 60 targets would likely further stretch the field but ... would it go on for too long?
