Optical Centre Distance
I'm familiar with the popular idea of setting your scope's optical centre at 55 yards, to obtain the best picture possible, but isn't it most important to have the best picture possible when you're range finding?
It's rare that you'd set your clicks to 55 yards then range find, right?
I'm thinking it's best to have your optical centre at your zero distance (or where ever you reset your scope to after each shot) that way you're ALWAYS range finding at your optical centre. Sure you don't have the best picture at 55 yards once you click there, but isn't it more important to have the best range finding picture possible?
