I used an open source modelling language - OpenSCAD, it does the job I wanted it for very well and took me minutes to learn it - I'm sure it would have taken me a lot longer to learn Blender or something like that.

The other reasons I chose it was that there's no drawing or selecting points etc to do - it's all pure calculation and coding, and the main reason was that I could write little parameter driven methods and tweak things later on by just changing a variable or two.

The downside is that it doesn't seem to create very clean surfaces for applying meshes to with Keyshot

I must say there's an impressive collection of talent in the airgunning community - when consumer level 3D printers do finally take off I'm sure we're going to see some awesome innovations.
