The reason for a max of 12x mag in SFT wasn't to do with allowing HFT shooters to compete, it was to stop people going out with a high mag scope and using a cheat/trick for rangefinding.
It's also the same reason why eventually the 12x max mag rule was introduced for the HFT part of the Anglo American when it was held at Redfearns..

I thought about shooting SFT for the Winter leaugue with my HFT rig, but decided I either shoot it with an FT scope or dont bother, as i believe that you re massively disadvantaged over 45 yards. In my case any distance
The way I rangefind I struggle between blurred and a bit more blurred for 45 and 55 yards respectively.
And guessing within five yards by eye is not a good option.
Having said that I will be shooting the Anston springer champs in HFT mode to 55 yards!!
Its for charity so what the hell.
