There are many aspects which you have to consider when deciding the length of the barrel (but lock time is none of them, see above).
- Energy efficiency: longer barrel means more shots with the same power,
- Centre of gravity: longer barrel makes your rifle more nose heavy,
- Weight of the rifle: every 10 cm of a d=15 mm barrel is 123 g weight.
I think that Feinwerkbaus with their 62 cm barrels and d=20 mm steel sleeves are too heavy already, I think Steyr's choice of 50 cm barrels on their new rifles is a good compromise in efficiency and also in weight.
