With a springer, I find it best to range and click before I cock the gun. Reason is, if you cock the springer and go straight to fire you will get a velocity of say 775fps. If you cock the same springer first and then let it sit a minute while you range and click, it will shoot at 785. I've noticed this over and over with many springers while shooting over the chrono. A cocked gun that's not shot right away will pick up velocity every time when left for a minute or two. May not be enough to make a difference, but it does play with my mind.
