1.Read Brian Samsons advice for HFT and rangefing etc on the sticky in this section.Seriously do!!!
2.You dont need the best or clearest scope in the world to start with, no higher than fixed 10 mag or 3x9/4x12 until you look through lots of other scopes.(then it gets expensive)
I very rarely buy new but re sell loads.
3.Oh and be on the look out for smoke and mirrors.
ie dont listen to the casually dropped hints about wind and distance, make your own mind up.
4.Just do it! and enjoy it. This is a friendly sport.
