I agree Dave.
I think it's clear "Why it matters" because no matter what it may or not mean to you, what it may to someone else is different, and besides the matter of how serious a game should be taken, we should try and remember to respect the views those we shoot in competition with. Not always easy, i'm far from perfect myself in doing it, but I think it's something we should strive towards.
My feeling on core rules is that there's a lot of work to be done
